BUFFET IN BLOOM

BUFFET IN BLOOM

I’ve frequently recommended all white serving pieces but I couldn’t pass these up. These leaf shaped plates and serving pieces showed up on deep closeout at Walmart a while back. Now just because something is cheap doesn’t mean you need to buy it but the possibilities just exploded in my head!

I’ve hosted the main course of my neighborhood progressive party for years. This year I pulled together all of those leaf shaped dishes in various sizes into a giant chrysanthemum. Of course! Right?!

As I’ve advised for all pitch-in events like this I requested that all the contributing neighbors stop by to pick the sizes or number of dishes they needed for what they intended to bring. If they couldn’t or didn’t respond of course I showed up on their doorstep dishes in hand with an ‘offer they couldn’t refuse’ (evil grin). Seriously though, in most cases, they were thankful they didn’t have to dig through their own cabinets for serving pieces or worry about having to get their dish back.

Offering two smaller plates for each guest’s setting instead of one larger one allows guests to keep their potato salad separate from their brownies and

lemon bars.
