GLOBAL NEUTRALITY

GLOBAL NEUTRALITY

There are lots of good tablescape reasons for the dinnerware to occasionally lay back a bit or be more subtle.  Foods such as traditional Indian that are rich with color and texture are worth showing off. Serving a meal like this on stark white, however, introduces a distinctly Euro/Western sensibility not really in keeping with the rich heritage of Indian cooking . Indeed, if you encountered a meal like this in India you might well find it served on stainless steel plates or in stainless dishes. Stainless tableware isn’t all that common in a lot of places but rich gray tones have become very popular in the world of ceramic dinnerware and are a perfect way of evoking the stainless tableware this food might be found on in its natural habitat.

The gray tableware we’re using features an intricate texture recalling ethnic textiles. Even though the texture generates a lot of interest and conversation the overall color is so close to the table surface the food still allows the textures and bright colors of the food to stand out. Mixing different materials such as ceramic and wood can prevent the table from b
ecoming monotonous.
